The Ghostriders went into Golden on Friday night and despite being outshout 14-7 were leading 1-0 at the end of the first on Connor Lowe Wylde's (Georgopoulos-Webb) first of the night.
In the second the wheels fell off and the Rockets scored three before Tyler Gonzales (L-Wylde-Carr) scored to make it 3-2. Things were lookin good for the boys then the Rockets scored two more, the last one was a killer with only 28 seconds left in the period.
In the third down 5-2 the players showed their character and fought back with four goals in a row for the exciting win. Josh McKissock (Primeau)--then (GonzalesCarr) scored two in a row then Lowe-Wylde scored his second on the night. In O/T it was Derek Georgopoulos scoring the GW from Ben Primeau.
Game Summary Here The Riders were outshot 24-11 in the first two periods before doubling up on the Rockets 8-4 in the third. The win on the road, was big but coming back from the dead showed some real character from the players and Chris Solecki (8-2 in his last 10) who hung in there and shut the door during the comeback. "C" McKissock led the way with a pair and the always fun to watch Georgopoulos scored the GW in O/T. Seems to me he scored the GW in O/T vs Summerland a few weeks ago.
The Riders travel to Invermere tonight, the Rockies Josh Haley was the first star in their 8-2 romp over Kimberley Friday Game summary here Could be a possible P/O matchup standings here 1vs4
First a fan appreciated congrats to the Riders for pulling out a road win against a hot golden team. A great third period push to tie and a dominate 40 seconds of OT. Too many times this season we have had slow starts. Had Golden keep to their first two period of play the outcome could have been like our loss to Nelson. This team can compete with any team in the league if they play 60 minutes of desperate hockey like that last 20 of the Golden game. Fernie's physical play is improving.
