The Nelson Leafs showed why they are number one in the KIJHL on Friday night with a 6-2 win over the Ghostriders. The Leafs won every aspect of the game and out shot the Riders 56-21. The best team doesn't always win though and the Riders had a chance to win or at least tie after Simon Horlick and Dylan Rota scored to make it 3-2 a few minutes into the third. The Riders were playing much better for a while at that time but the Leafs weathered that rain shower and took over the game scoring three in a row. 947 fans at the game Friday. The Game Summary is here Dylan Rota was the most dangerous Ghostrider and Dylan Robertson, who appeared to be more than willing to do his thing got off the hit of the game late in the third, but overall Nelson appeared to be bigger faster and stronger Friday night.
The Ghostriders go to Grand Forks tonight, they will have Jeff Rayman back after he served a one game suspension for a fight late in the third in Creston.
Kimberley defeated Beaver Valley in Kimberley 3-1 last night keeping pace with the Riders and probably eliminating either Creston or Invermere from third place. Sheet here Only 171 at the game Standings here
Meanwhile in Invermere the Rockets eked out a 4-3 win, they were down a goal going into the third but fought back with 2 goals game summary here With that win they take over first.
Creston lost 3-2 in Osoyoos but it was in OT so they gain a point on Invermere for the last PO spot. Game summary here
embarrassing.
ReplyDeletei blame coaching staff on not trading solecki early in the season. getting blown out against creston.... AT CHRISTMAS!! and then nelson not long after. ya ya ya "its not all the goalies fault" on this one i would say 90 percent of it is. 20 years old.....really? pretty questionable
You're an idiot this kid has won games single handed all year long . You need to take the blinders off and see that the Nelson team just out skated Fernie beat them to every loose puck . So get a life
DeleteIf we are pointing fingers, I think it is a little ridiculous to put 90% of the blame on the goalie for the loss to Nelson when he faced 56 shots and many of them good scoring chances. The TEAM's defensive play (forwards included) needs to shoulder a good portion of the blame. On the flip side Fernie only managed to put 21 shots on the Nelson net... not going to get many wins with 2 goals and 21 shots in any league with any goal tender.
DeleteWith regards to the Creston game, I would say the majority of the team had a difficult time and looked out of sorts and could share the blame for that loss.
For the most part, you win as a team and lose as a team.
Good or bad we encourage your comments... you, the fans, keep this team alive...
